I thought I had a cold but my cough has persisted over a month and gotten worse, it hurts when I breath in, I have becoming increasingly tired and now seem to have a low fever, feel light headed, and am not comfortable driving...I feel much better after drinking warm broth...but it doesn t last
Hello dear I understand your concern Your symptoms could be due to viral or allergic bronchitis. If it is not associated with fever, wheezing, shortness of breath, chest congestion then nothing to worry and take following advises for next 7 days. -Take Cough syrup containing guaifenesin and dextromethorphan (Q tussin CF): 10 ml three times a day -Drink plenty of lukewarm water -Steam inhalation 3-4 times a day -Strepsil throat lozenges (neem and honey flavor):take every 3 hourly -Avoid cold beverages and exposure to pollutants
If the cough persists despite using the above medication then further workup would be required by consulting the pulmonologist.
Best regards Dr. Sagar
