Suggest Treatment For Persistent Coughing Fits And Stuffy Nose

I have been sick for going on 4 weeks now. I have had bad chest congestion, coughing, now it has gone to my nasal passages. I have taken allegra, Flonase, naproxen and Nyquil. I can t seem to shake whatever it is. The coughing is better and the flem is becoming clearer, but I still cannot lay down without coughing fits and a very stuffed up nose. What can I do to help.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello
I have gone through your question and understand your concern. In my view the cause of cough and stuffed nose is upper respiratory tract infection. Consult a general physician at the earliest and stop the current allergy /other over the counter medications as the symptoms lasting for more than 4 weeks suggests bacterial infection.
At the doctor you will be expected to undergo a few diagnostic tests like chest X-ray, blood picture, X-ray PNS, allergy profile along with complete body examination. Treatment will be initiated after confirming the diagnosis and most like antibiotics will be prescribed depending on the causative organism.
I hope your concern is answered. Thank you.
