Suggest Treatment For Persistent Dry Cough And Post Nasal Drip
I have had a persistent dry cough or 3 days. No other symptoms except much mucus in my throat that I expel on a consistent basis. This mucus could come from post nasal drip. Had it for quite some time. My father died of lung cancer, never smoked, so a cough is always on my mind. I am also in my fourth year after a diagnosis of stage II breast cancer. All seems well so far with that after treatment. I am a very young 62.
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have persistent dry cough and post nasal drip . Sinusitis, Upper Respiratory Track infection, acid reflux, allergies Can cause such symptoms . If such symptoms will be ignored it can lead to complication like ear infection and blockage of eustachian tube . It can cause irritation and infection in throat that is lead to cough reflex. I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist for proper examination . Doctor may order certain tests like CT scan , blood test , chest x ray and respiratory function test . Doctor may prescribe antiemetic drug , antibiotics (amoxxicillin or penicillin ) and recommend taking steam , which will be very helpful . For now do warm saline gargles .
Hope your concern has been resolved.
