Suggest Treatment For Persistent Fever And Vomiting In A Child

My son just started school last week. He was already out last Friday with a fever accompanied with a cough and nose drainage. We observed the fever free for 24 hours rule. He went back to school on Monday. Today he threw up on the bus and has a 100.3 fever. He is seven years old and not one to get sick. Should I be concerned?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The symptoms of your child seem to be related to a gastrointestinal infection.

I suggest using an over the counter option such as Imodium.

I also suggest using daily probiotics.

I recommend using Tylenol for the fever.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
