I was suffering from high fever with chills since saturday. Doctor asked me have paracetamol 500 mg , 3 tablets for 3 days still fever did not cure completely then he sent me for malaria and typhoid test but both found negative. After that he stopped me having paracetamol and given taxim o 200 mg. Still fever are there , though not that high . What to do now?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,
I had gone through your query and understand your concern.

There are many diseases which causes fever with chills. The most common are,
01) Common cold, Throat infection:
If you have cold, throat pain consider this as a possibility.

02) Urinary tract infection: If you have burning pain while urinating, frequent urination this may be the cause.

03) Malaria: It causes fever with chills, head ache, weakness, dry cough etc.

04) Sepsis: Infection anywhere in the body causes fever with chills. This is less likely as you might have noticed the infection by this time.

I suggest you to continue taking taxim-o which is an antibiotic. You can also take Paracetamol to reduce fever.
Drink warm water. Have high protein diet.

Your symptoms will reduce after few days.

Even after this course of antibiotics if fever has not come down, I suggest you to go for routine Blood investigations, repeat malaria test, dengue serology, urine examination.

I hope I answered your question.

You can always contact me for any further information.

Take care.

Regards,
Dr. PRATHAP
