Suggest Treatment For Persistent Headache During Pregnancy
Hi, i have had a persistent headache for 3 1/2 days. Im pregnant and have been advised tylenol and water were the best options. the tylenol has little effect and the water isnt really helping. any other suggestions so that I can avoid going to the hospital.
Hello, Welcome to HCM. I understand your concern. Acitaminophen(the active ingredient in Tylenol) is considered safe in pregnancy. It's best to avoid aspirin and nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDS) such as ibuprofen and naproxen. Some studies suggest that taking these medications near conception or in early pregnancy may increase the risk of miscarriage and birth defects. A cold compress and rest can help alleviate headaches. relaxing technique like taking deep breaths might be useful. Hope this information is helpful to you. Good luck in your pregnancy, Regards.
