Suggest Treatment For Persistent Headaches After An Injury

I experienced a head injury while at work in march of 2015 . After a cat scan which showed nothing I was sent by W S I B to a neurosurgeon who said basically there was nothing wrong with me .I was forced back to work on a gradual scale . From the day after the incident I have had a headache some days more severe than others . This past summer the headaches began being more severe so my family doctor just prescribed more Tylenol 3 saying I ll probably have headaches for the rest of my life . By November they had become so severe I was taking between 4 and 6 tylenol 3 per shift . In early December I stopped working worrying about what damage the tylenol was doing. I have seen chiropractors, physiotherapists, post concussion specialists as well as a neurologist and have been off work since December 2016 . Is there an answer to my problem?

Hi,

I have just read your query. Headache years after trauma can be due to variety of reasons. Here are few things you should know about that.
1) Do you have any other symptoms besides a headache like the blurring of vision, bleeding through ear or nose, dizzy spells?
2) A CT scan sometimes misses out certain pathology that's why here when we are unsure we order an MRI for our patients. I will suggest that to anyone with similar complaints in my clinic.
3) Avoid taking excess Tylenol, this excess analgesics can lead to a condition called as the analgesic nephropathy which will damage the kidneys.
4) This headache could be due to the totally unrelated cause, it could be due to sinusitis, it could be associated with your vision/ophthalmic condition, It could be due to stress or anxiety too. All this has to be ruled out.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Moses John Wesley,
