Suggest Treatment For Persistent Headaches

I ve had a headache for 10 days. At first it was sudden onset and progressed to migraine. Slept and felt better but it was a dull headache when I woke up the next day. I have had a headache (dull, achy, pressure, helmet like) since August 13 but have had another day where it became a migraine. I have been sensitive to light and sound, stiff neck, tiredness, all over achiness and chills. I Went to doctor on Thursday when pain progressed to jaw/teeth and stabbing pain behind left eye & cheek. They said I had sinus & ear infection and prescribed Amoxicillian, Tylenol 2 and Nasonex. I have been taking since Thursday. It helped with the stabbing pain and jaw pain went away... but still have daily headache, neck stiffness, tiredness and sensitivity to light & sound. I have also had waves of naseau periodically. Any advice?

Hi
Thanks for posting on HCM
The effective treatment of headache depends on cause if any identifiable cause. However, primary headaches do exist like migraine and tension type headaches. These are all possible given your description. These ones may not have any identifiable cause.
The symptoms you describe could be caused by sinus infection as diagnosed by your Doctor and management might only subside progressively.I will however suggest you take a typhoid and malaria test if in a malaria zone.Have your BP controlled. If these test reveal nothing, i will suggest your headache be managed as a primary headache.Treatment options however will be with different lines of pain medications depending on intensity and steroids like prednisolone occasionally.
I will advise you try the following:
-Take a paracetamol codeine combination like klipal 600 if headache too intense or continue with tylenol if mild/moderate headache
-Rest well
-Sleep well
-Avoid stress
If the problem persist, you see your Doctor for reevaluation.
Hope my answer will help you
Best regards
