Hi,

Arthritis is the most common condition causing joint pain. I advice you to take
- Analgesics: Paracetamol or ibuprofen
- Intra-articular glucocorticoids, if pain and swelling persists even after taking NSAIDs
- Chondroprotective agents: Glucosamine sulphate & chondroitin sulphate twice a day
- Weight reduction
- Physiotherapy
- Weight bearing aids (shoes, sticks etc)
- Rest & hot fomentation
- Blood levels of ASO, CRP, RA factors

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Yogapriya Vasudevan, General & Family Physician
