Hi Thanks for posting on HCM Prebiotics and probiotics may help to reestablish your child's gastroentestinal mocrobial equilibrium.I feel persistence of symptoms for over a week suggest a possible digestive infection to be investigated. The problem could be caused by a viral, bacterial or parasitic infection. If i were you Doctor, i will request for a stool exam and culture. The etiologic management of the child will depend on the results of the stool test.I will suggest you take the child back to the Doctor for work-ups.You may continue with oral rehydration salt and zinc tablets, pro and prebiotics while waiting for an etiologic management.Paracetamol syrup may help control the child's temperature. Hope my answer will help you Best regards
