Suggest Treatment For Persistent Lower Back Pain Despite Medication
Had Sciatica nerve pain due lower back injury back 12 weeks ago. Been in physical therapy to stretch tight hamstring muscle on left leg and lower back. Over all I am somewhat better however hamstring muscle is still tight and on occasion lower back pain flares up. I’m 57 and workout about 2 times a week. However I’m afraid of going back to the gym until I feel more secure with left leg and lower back. X-ray shows no hernia disk problems however I have mild scoliosis and a possible bone spur on lower back. No MRI done yet to confirm. Not sure what to do next. Had doctor give me a shot of lidocaine in lower back which helped for two days but then back again to the tightness of hamstring. So not sure what to do next?

Hi,
Scoliosis & spur at lower back pain ( the nerve supply to the muscles in the lower back being affected).
You should go for an MRI to get exact diagnosis followed by specific management depending on the severity of symptoms & cause (physiotherapy, physical therapy with medications & back braces are helpful in some cases. While few times surgical treatment becomes essential.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
