Suggest Treatment For Persistent Nausea, Chills And Leg Pain After Injury

My husband has been quivering, feeling nauseous, chilled, and weak. He injured his leg yesterday and was taking Vicodin over night for the pain. He seemed fine when he got up this am, but suddenly felt extremely nauseous, chilled and started shaking again. (He quivers all over his body occasionally on a regular basis.) He didn t eat breakfast (very unlike him) and has been lying down all morning but has not felt any better. He is 78 years old and in general good health other than a couple of conditions that are being treated.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

It is important to rule out infection as the cause of your husband symptoms (chills, nausea, weakness, shakiness). If infection is the cause antibiotics will be needed.
Also, Vicodin may help with pain, but due to the presence of an opioid in it, this may contribute to worsening of nausea and may also cause weakness.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Antoneta Zotaj, General & Family Physician
