Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I was taking flucozale pills for 8 days it did not clear up my oral thrush. I was put on prednisone twice and asthma inhalers for months. This oral thrush is really holding gottten a foot hold I feel that I need a much longer time, like 3 weeks , of treatment on the Flucozale tablets.
Well, the reason for slow clearing your thrush is probably Asthma inhaler that can contain steroid component.. It is commonly seen in individuals who use inhaler suffer from oral thrush due to reduced resistance causing overgrowth of opportunistic organisms like yeast causing Infection.. So my suggestion to you is to consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated.. In case if it is due to inhaler then the first thing that you can is to rinse your mouth thoroughly with water after you take the inhaler.. Keep your tongue clean using a tongue cleaner.. For thrush along with oral medicine you can also start gargling with Nystatin mouthwash and suck Clotrimazole lozenges.. Eat plenty of probiotics like Yogurt and garlic..
Hope this helps..
Regards .
