Suggest Treatment For Persistent Pain Around Achilles Tendon

I have had a sore achilles tendon for several months. Initially, I did very little exercise due to a shoulder injury. That problems has been solved and for the last 5 weeks or so I've been able to walk and run on it but after running today it's very sore. In addition, while my left achilles tendon is the worst right now, the right one started hurting a couple of weeks ago - same symptoms. It hurts when I first get up in the morning, then the pain subsides until I exercise, during which the pain usually lessens significantly. But today, it's staying sore and I'm having trouble walking on it since it doesn't seem to be able to stretch much.

Hi Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern.

As per your query, here are some remedies for painful Achilles tendinitis
1.Rest your Achilles tendon. Avoid all activities that strain the tendon, such as stairs climbing or running.
2.Reduce pain by icing your Achilles tendon and taking nonprescription pain relievers such as acetaminophen or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) as directed.
3.Follow your physical therapy program if one has been prescribed for you.
4.Do gentle stretching and strengthening exercises. Focus on calf stretches
5.Wear footwear that protects the tendon while it heals. Quality athletic shoes that support your arches and cushion your heels can make a big difference in your comfort and healing.
