Suggest Treatment For Persistent Pain In The Knees While On Advil

for the last 6 weeks i have had pain in both of my knees. It came on sorta quick but not due to an injury and it even can wake me up at night. I take advil to deal with the pain but am wondering whats up. I did recently stop taking my cholestrol meds could that be whats causing the pain?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Cholesterol medication, the statins, can be associated with pain but this is most commonly muscle related pain.
Blood tests for creatine kinase can be done to determine if there are any problems with the muscles.

Xrays of the joints may be needed since the pain is in the knees. There are some blood tests that can look for some forms of arthritis such as rheumatoid, lupus etc eg full blood count , esr- these are the initial bloods

There are also more specific bloods for these types.

There are other, stronger medications that can be used.

I hope this helps
