Suggest Treatment For Persistent Rib Pain, Pressure, And Gastritis Symptoms Despite Normal Ultrasound Results

Good day. I woke up with a pain under/or between my ribs about a week and a half ago. Since then it has not yet gotten better, though it comes and goes. In the mean time i got pressure feelings round about where my stomach is. We did a quick u/s everything showed normal. But dr suggested it is Gastritis and i started today with anti-sour meds. The symptoms do make sense as i do not want to eat, and have a burn in my chest. At this moment we still think the rib pain is referring pain, but its quite a unusual place and quite far down. Any suggestions? (it feels like milt-sting but problem is, its on my right side) no pain when touching/feeling over it. But can not sleep/lay on my side, its the worst when laughing or pushing/pulling something. Also does not seem to come from my back.

Hello,

Take water and fluids in adequate amount to help better bowel movement. Avoid constipation, take laxatives if needed. Constipation triggers gastritis. Include fiber or fiber supplements in your regular diet. Avoid sedentary lifestyle, do exercises and walking. You can take pantoprazole, once daily for 15 days or antacids for relieve. Avoid oily, spicy, junk food. Once gastritis gets controlled your rib pain should reduce, it it is because of gastritis.

However, persistent rib pain can also be due to nerve impingement, pulled muscle, trauma or injury to that particular area where you are experiencing pain. Sometimes underlying medical conditions also cause such symptoms, get clinically examined by a GP to rule out costochondritis, fracture, fibromyalgia, developing neuropathy, etc. You will have to get few blood tests and imaging tests done. Your treatment will depend on the pathology detected.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
