Suggest Treatment For Persistent Severe Cramps And Inability To Pass Gas
I took two laxatives yesterday. In two hours I began cramping Bad!! Never worked.. I layed on my left side in fetal position!! It moved me at 3 am but the severe pain has confinued throughout the day and now/ tonight. I m unable to pass gas... But feel like I m about to pop in my stomach! Please help!
Many laxatives work by increasing abdominal contractions or intestinal contractions. Increasing in intestinal contractions can cause reduced blood supply to the intestines. This can cause painful cramps.
When there is cramping, it is possible for one not to be able to pass gas as well.
Usually, the effects of the medication subside after a few hours and it would be possible to wait it out. Drinking cold water may also help with the symptoms.
In case the symptoms persist, one may have gastric infection and this may need antibiotics or a bland diet to reduce the symptoms.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards, Dr. Vignan Rachabattuni
