Suggest Treatment For Persistent Sore Throat

I think it s the pollen which is still relartively high, but this is the worst ever. Late in the day when I leave work and am walking briskly (I work in Manhattan) I sometimes experience burning in the throat and upper chest. I also noticed I have a swollen gland on my neck now too and a slight sore throat. What might it be? I have a routine physical with blood work in advance next week and will mention it if I still have it.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello welcome to the health care magic

It seems to be viral upper respiratory tract infection

Your work up done as follow..
-CBC
-Auscultation
-Chest x ray only if needed
-Throat swab if needed

You can be given betamethasone low dose 0.5 mg dose for five days to relieve inflammation..

Antibiotic course like amoxicillin plus clavulenic acid also given for 5 days

Take care

Hope this will help you

Consult otorhinolaryngologist for examination with keeping all this in mind
