Suggest Treatment For Persistent Throat Pain And Fever
What diagnosis does a person have if their throat hurt after losing their voice during a cold. One of my family member said his throat hurt after the fever was gone and it has been going on for 2 weeks. His throat hurt when he swallow and he needed great effort to talk. He had been drinking warm water everyday but nothing helps. He doesn t have any other symptoms other then his throat hurt when he swallow and using great effort to talk. He tries to not talk as much.
Hello Welcome to health care magic. Throat pain with fever is due to acute pharyngitis/layryngitis.
Antibiotic course with erythromycin 3-4 times a day for 5-7 days needs to be done to get rid of infection.(prescription drug) Dextrometorphan lozenges may give throat pain relief. Continue salt water gargles or betadine gargles thrice a day. If the symptoms donot relieve in 3 days or high fever develop, consultation with ENT surgeon would be required. Hope this information helps. Thanks
