Suggest Treatment For Persistent Violent Cough With Mucus In A Child
My grandsons, age 3 and 6 have violent coughs resulting in vomiting up mucus. The 6 year old has had it for 2 weeks, accompanied by a low grade fever. Lungs have been clear but the doctor recently noticed some lung congestion and he s now on an antibiotic. Today he said his ear hurt. Appetite is normal, energy is close to normal although he looks pale and tired. Running around results in a coughing fit. The 3 year old started a few days ago and now also has a swollen eye. Neither child has been vaccinated; their doctor does not think it is pertussis. 9 year old brother had a cough but is now fine. Their sister is 7 weeks old, no symptoms so far, thank God.
