Suggest Treatment For Phobia Of Having Sex

Hello Dr, Good day ! This is Pooya from Iran I have enormous fear of sex. I am 30 and I am still virgin. I tried a few times to overcome this issue through putting my self in the situation but every time right before the intercourse begins and when my partner and I commence foreplay I start to feel enormous anxiety. Something akin panic attack occurs to me, I made an excuse and refuse to continue...after that I run into a kind of guilt ,regret and the feeling of being humiliated. How can I find the root of my problem Dr? what is the best therapeutic approach to tackle that? CBT? Psychoanalysis ? or other forms of therapy.... Thanks in advance. Pooya Thanks in advance

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi Pooya
Thanks for choosing HCM for your concern.
I have gone through the problem described in your case.
I am of the opinion that you are suffering from a condition called Genophobia.
Which could have arisen due to a number of factors like you might have witnessed a traumatic sexual experience, horrific sexual act, or painful vaginal contractions (vaginismus).
Facing your fear is the first step to a new life.
Don’t feel hopeless and seek treatment.

You may need to visit a psychiatrist, behavioral therapist or gynecologist.
Behavioral therapy can include exposing yourself to the fear and involve bringing in your partner to discuss the issue to work through your thought process.
Another treatment option is Emotional Freedom Technique, or EFT. This method incorporates acupuncture measures to distract the mind from the issue and focus on different physical points to ease the pain.
Whatever method you choose, make sure you speak with your primary doctor first for the best referral. There is help and you can get it immediately.
Another advice I would like to add here is get married all your problems will be solve in due course of time Insha Allah!
Wishing you best of your health.
A feedback is appreciated if you are convinced.
