Suggest Treatment For Pieces Of Toothbrush Stuck In Throat
About two weeks ago, my toothbrush disintegrated while I was brushing my teeth. Was unable to stop all of them from going down my throat. Went to emergency, they didn t see anything with xray. However, whenever I chew gum, it still feels as though I have a few in my throat. What would you recommend?
Tooth brush bristles wouldn't have lasted so many days in your throat. There would be abnormal foreign body sensation and will lead to throat infection in case of impacted bristles in throat. But none of that happened and X-ray came to be negative so you don't need to worry so much. If there is still some inconvenience with throat, you can get your throat examined thoroughly by an ENT specialist.
As far as I'm concerned, I have no doubt that your throat is clear because no foreign body can stay for so long without infection or injury. Your symptoms might be due to the injury the bristles must have caused while passing down. It will get healed slowly. If pain persists, you can have ibuprofen. You can have warm salt water rinsing or gargling of throat for 2-3 days that will help soothe your throat.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
