Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I ve been dealing with what I believe is pitryasis rosea. The spots look exactly the same to what I have seen. Originally I had the rash for about 6 weeks and then it went away leaving some scars. Now I believe it is back or it may have never gone away, I m a healthy 15 year old boy who is very active in sports and athletic. Any help?
To prevent pimples, acne or pitryasis rosea you should take shower everyday and wear loose fitting cotton clothes. Pitryasis rosea commonly goes away in 10-14 weeks. You can take a course of doxycycline. It will reduce the frequency of such symptoms. Taking healthy diet will also help reduce symptoms. Take home made balanced diet preferably boiled food. Avoid oily spicy junk food. Keep your scalp clean and shampoo your hair daily with Selsun shampoo to remove dandruff.
Keep your hair oiled with almond oil. Do not touch or scratch the spots that are healing. Picking and scratching causes scars. To lighten scars and spots you can apply ointment Betnovate-c cream on the area affected. Apply it at bed time, avoid exposure to sunlight. It will clear in 7-10 days. Do not apply it for more than 10 days. Removal can also be done by surgery. Laser therapy and cryosurgery effectively removes scare. Get connected with a dermatologist.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
