I was recently in the last month treated for pluerisy twice with an antibiotic. I finished the antibiotics and still wasn t feeling good so my dr prescribed levaquin,he told me to take it only if I started running a fever because I have a viral infection. Well I just started using the antibiotic today because I am running a fever, well I feel really crappy still and I was wondering if it was a good idea to start that levaquin even though I don t have a bacterial infection. I am just tired of beins sick fot the last two months. I am going on a trip next week fot 10days and I just want to feel better.
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Apart from this, I need to know that from where you belong, from how much days you have a fever and what other tests you have done?
1. If you belong to developing countries then tuberculosis is one cause 2. If developed countries then bacterial infection of multiple causes - for this you have to go for fluid aspiration and send for bacterial culture and sensitivity 3. If you have any systemic disease like heart and kidney disease it may also cause pleurisy 4. Fever will go with antibiotics and take zerodol-SP thrice
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Chandra Shekhar
