Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I was recently diagnosed with early pneumonia. I am taking an antibiotic. What level of activity is recommended? I am on vacation at the beach and I am wondering if I am okay to walk around the town, take stairs up and down from the beach, walk on the beach, etc? Is bed rest or just rest with little to no physical activity the norm?
If you are having mild pneumonia or initial phase you should not be obliged to total rest. You can have normal physical activity and walking around the town can be OK. No bed rest necessary. Also, continue to have expectorants to sooth secretions.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Olgeta Xhufka, General & Family Physician
