Hello dear thanks for your question on HCM . No,this is not the correct way to treat. Old age patient, with bad cough with history of previous pneumonia should be investigated to rule out pneumonia. As pneumonia in old age patient, if not treated early can lead to poor outcome. So I advice you to consult pulmonologist and get done 1. Chest x ray. 2. Sputum culture and sensitivity to guide antibiotics. 3. Bronchoscopy and BAL (Bronchoalveolar lavage) analysis if sputum is not available It is better to start antibiotics according to sensitivity report to achieve greatest effect and fasten recovery. So avoid rocephin injection further and consult pulmonologist and start treatment according to guidelines.
