Suggest Treatment For Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome

I am 27 years old and have polycystic ovarian syndrome. I was diagnosed with it at the age of 16. I ve been married for 5 years and have unprotected sex regularly. I have never gotten pregnant. I have excess hair growth on my back, face and a little bit between my breasts. I am overweight and have a very hard time losing weight. I badly want to conceive. Sometimes I can go a couple years with no cycle. My last cycle was about 6 months ago. I move a lot since my husband is military and I m tired of having to go to different doctors and have them basically start from the beginning every time. Exams tests and othere nonsense. I just want help conceiving! They can see on my medical records what has been done and what the findings are why do it again? Also, am I considered a severe or a mild case? What would be the best medication to help me?

Hi! thanks for sharing your long-standing and 'severe' health problem with us!

Well, cases of polycystic ovarian syndrome or PCOS is a fairly common condition that I come with in my clinic and the diagnosis is straightforward: less of periods, excess of fat, polycystic ovaries on ultrasound, etc. etc....

And for treatment we usually do some blood tests like thyroid profile, blood sugar, insulin level, prolactin, FSH/LH, Progesterone etc.

Sometimes the patients were treated elsewhere and we need the history of partial treatment also.

In your case the treatment history and the reports are missing; but I must say that it is a mysterious medical condition and easily controllable if not treatable by 100%!

Clomifene citrate / metformins are among medical therapy and if these fail, laparoscopic puncturing of the cysts is approached! ovulation study could be done by kit study, folliculometry etc.

Hope got the answer to your question; anyways, Also don't hesitate to write to us in case any more queries.

Wishing you good health!
