Suggest Treatment For Possible LCIS And Minimal DCIS
Eight weeks ago I had an operation to remove DCIS detected through a routine mammogram. The surgeon took a wide margin and discovered from pathologist report that it was mostly LCIS and minimal DCIS. I ve had MRI and all traces have been removed. I now have a higher chance of reoccurrance. My surgeon tells me that in most cases it doesn t reoccur. LCIS is not detectable through mammograms, and only when it becomes invasive will it be detected. I am concerned that once invasive the treatment to cure is Mastectomy Chemo and Radiation. How many women in my current position choose to have a mastectomy to avoid the unknown future. I am 53, own my own business - womens gym, and consider myself fit and generally healthy.
