Suggest Treatment For Post Nasal Drip, Sore Throat And Muscle Pain
Symptoms are: chronic post nasal drip, muscle aches - neck and shoulders, and occasional sore throat; possibly from constant throat clearing. Environmental allergies have bee n ruled out and sinus ct scan was neg. Could this be related to a gluten allergy?
Chronic nasal drip may be due to allergic rhinitis. In this case, nasal steroids such as fluticasonenasal spray can be used 1 spray 1-2 times a day in each nostril.
You may also do nasal lavage with a normal saline solution daily to help clear the secretions and open the nasal passages. After the nasal lavage, you can apply the fluticasone nasal spray.
As for the gluten allergy, there is a blood test that can be done and rule it in/out.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Antoneta Zotaj, General and Family Physician
