Hi,I am Dr. Alexander H. Sheppe (Psychiatrist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My blood pressure this morning was 138/98 (had mild pre-eclampsia during pregnancy this year and had to be put on blood pressure medicine after giving birth since it didn't go back down). Also, I think I may have post-partum depression - I delivered my daughter (first child) 9/1/10 and I'm just now feeling high anxiety, anger, depression. I take an anti-depressive and have for several years now. I have a HX of social anxiety disorder. I'm not sure what to do.
I went through your details. The first thing you should do about this is to stop worrying. Postpartum depression is very common and usually disappears within a span of almost one year. Your gynecologist must have given you all the advises and medicine regarding that.
I think you took it seriously and started obsessing with it and thereby it developed itself into a worse stage and also social phobia developed. Please do not worry.
To treat social phobia and postpartum depression, we use a multipronged strategy using medicines, psychotherapy, meditation and exercise. Sincerely it works. You should talk to a psychologist about this and start treatment.
