Suggest Treatment For Presence Of Phlegm In The Throat Of A Child

Hi, my daughter is 4 years old (14kg), she has phlegm in her throat and she like to hold it in. last night she vomited all her food, after her vomit, it seems her throat is cleared. I ve given her a dose of Phenergan (as it was previously prescribed by her pediatrician) last night. Today, I went to the pharmacy, the pharmacist recommended Rhinathiol Children , since the medicine i ask for is not available. Is it Ok to change medication? Should I just continue to give her Phenergan or changed to Rhinathiol?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi welcome to the health care magic

She should be consulted to pediatrician for examination..

Without examination no drug is prescribed

Auscultation done first to rule out rales or rhonchi if present

Thus could be from upper respiratory tract viral infection

If needed for vomiting ondensteron like syrup prescribed

If needed antihistaminic syrup you have mentioned might be prescribed

Take care

Hope your concern solved
