Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I ve been having a squeezing/pressure sensation in my chest behind my lower sternum. It feels deep. I have had it all day. It has come and gone lasting for 2-3 seconds an episode. Each episode about once an hour. It catches my breath but doesn t take it away. I m a 26 year old male.
As per your query you have feeling of pressure in your chest , which lasts for 2-3 seconds . Well a pressure sensation can come from a condition occurring in any part of your chest, including your chest wall muscles, esophagus, heart, lungs, nerves, ribcage, or tendons. Taking your age into consideration and as there is no pain , only pressure it doesn't seen to me that it is occurring due to heart problem . The probable reason for your problem is nerve involvement or muscle spasm . I would suggest you to consult chest specialist . Doctor may order chest X-ray , ECG and other test to confirm the diagnosis and rule out other conditions like acid reflux ( GERD ) . Doctor may prescribe muscle relaxant , proton pump inhibitor or may refer you to cardiologist .For now take proper rest , give warm compresses to chest and do not exert your body .
Hope your concern has been resolved.
