Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My husband is a 68 y/o black male recently diagnosis with prostate cancer. US of prostate showed not enlargement, PSA 60 and we will get the biopsy results this tomorrow. He has been extremely fatigue for at least 2 & 1/2 years now. He has has swelling of one arm. Is it possible that cancer may have metastasize from some other site or has spread? I finally got him too the doctor last year. He fainted and was told he has low b/p. We have been married for 39 years and I have begged him to go to the doctor . It took this faint to get him there. no thanks thought you could help. already playing a doctor
First of all it's sad to know what your husband had been going through lately.
Based on the history you have shared, biopsy report will suggest a course of action, and what exactly can be done. Such high PSA can occasionally occur in benign hypertrophy.
However, chances of carcinoma exist and may get better with treatment like surgical removal and testosterone blockers etc which reduce progress too.
Arm swelling can be a separate entity but metastasis chances also exist. A urologist opinion, bone scans may also be needed. Kindly stay put as your role is very important to help him out of this.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Saddiq Ulabidin, General & Family Physician
