In my chest x ray showing Lung fields are hyperinflated with no active parenchymal infiltrates. The heart is normal in size. The aorta is unremarkable. Diaphragm and bony thoracic cage are intact No other remarkable findings. IMPRESSION: PULMONARY HYPERAERATION... Thank you in advance...
Hello dear, thanks for your question on HCM. Hyperaeration is also known as hyperinflation. And it is seen in following conditions. 1. Normal individual if chest x ray is taken after full deep inspiration. 2. Old age people. 3. Smokers due to COPD ( chronic obstructive pulmonary disease ). So if you are smoker or symptomatic (cough or shortness of breath) then get done PFT ( pulmonary function test ) to diagnose COPD. And if you are not having any symptoms and not a smoker then no need to worry much with this x ray report.
