Suggest Treatment For Pulpitis And Tooth Pain After Smoking Marijuana
Hi Doc, I have pulpitis, when i went for surgery i had smoked weed the night before the anaesthesia didnt work, it so painful they couldnt work on the tooth, i smoked again today and i have to go to the dentist tomorrow what is the main problem? the weed is affecting the anaesthesia?
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain first thing that I would like to tell you is that generally smoked weed weans off within 4 to 5 hours of smoking and along with it weed can reduce effectivity of anaesthesia and can even increase certain side effects like heart palpitations.. I would suggest you to avoid smoking before surgery for atleast 2 to 3 days and you should avoid smoking atleast one to two weeks after surgery too as it can cause tissue inflammation and also lead to delay in healing.. In case if you suffer anxiety before dental surgery that is causing you to smoke weed then you need to consult your dentist who can advise you a small dose of anti-anxiety medication to be taken one night before and on the same day of treatment to avoid anxiety and ease in treatment..
Hope this helps..
Regards..
