Suggest Treatment For Puncture Wound After Being Stung
2 and a half weeks ago i think i was stung. I got home and had a red swollen area and looked like a puncture wound in the middle. After 2 days it turned dark purple and has been very painfull. Not sure what to do i have been putting neosporin or pritt on it but it is still purple and very painfull. What do i do
It is likely that there is some sub-dermal (Below the skin) bruising. The purple color should clear out soon. In the mean time, you can apply calamine lotion and take an antihistamine like Cetirizine (one tablet at night) to decrease the inflammation. You can take Paracetamol additionally, for the pain.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Pranav Balakrishnan, General & Family Physician
