Suggest Treatment For Purple Spots On The Breasts

Hi I have two dime sized purple spots on my lower left breast. One has been there for a while now, while the other appeared a few weeks ago. Usually, I sleep on my stomach and I m noticing some discomfort when I lay down. Honestly, I am very worried and already dealing with a heart condition after giving birth to my daughter 13 months ago. Please help!

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

If you can visualize purple spots or rash which are not insect bites then you should visit ER & get your breasts examined. Diffuse & generalized spots or blotches that are purple or red in color may be an indication of some developing pathology. Dimpled skin, lump in breasts, itchy breasts, unusually warm skin are signs of cancer. It may not be cancer, but do not neglect.

You should get investigations like Biopsy, Mammography, Breast USG, Breast MRI done to rule out breast cancer. Your treatment will depend upon the pathology detected.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K, General & Family Physician
