Suggest Treatment For Radiating Pain From Hip To Ankle Due To Arthritis
I have been having problems with knee pain, and was diagnosed with arthritis. The doctor gave me cortizone injections. It helped th e worst one to an extent that made it tolerable, but the other is really hurting, and it radiates hip to ankle. Could this also be sciatica?
Radiating pain from hip to ankle may be indicative of sciatica. You are suggested to get clinically examined. Get connected to a physiotherapist. Physical exercises are effective both for sciatica and arthritis.
You are suggested to take NSAIDS, for relieve. Stretch exercise, walking and physical exercises are good for arthritis. They help to keep your joints free and flexible & hence less painful. Lack of exercises will make arteritis worse and painful. You can take vitamin B6, B12 and vitamin E rich food or supplements to feel better.
Visit a neurologist and get nerve conduction tests done. Nerve biopsy done. Your treatment will depend on the pathology detected.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K, General & Family Physician
