When I lay on my right side to sleep my heart starts racing and I get short of breath and pressure in my chest, even slightly nauseated. What causes this? Female 50 years old cholesterol is under control now hiatal hernia for over 15 years his started about 6 weeks ago. It wakes me up sometimes and often can t sleep until I am exhausted.
Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic. I can understand your concern. You are having perimenopausal period. In this age women are at increase risk for cardiac diseases because of hormonal imbalance (low estrogen). Your all symptoms like rapid heart rate, shortness of breath, chest tightness etc are more suggestive of heart diseases like heart failure, arrhythmia or angina. So better to consult cardiologist and get done 1. Blood pressure monitoring 2. Ecg 3. 2d echo 4. Coronary angiography if needed. You may need cardiac supportive drugs on the basis of above reports. Don't worry, with proper diagnosis and treatment, you will be alright. Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.
