Hello. Thank you for your question and welcome to HCM. I understand your concern.
With highest probability, these phenomena are normal or, more precisely, benign in young ages. They can happen to anyone. Theoretically and practically, every situation when the human body is stressed, can produce rapid heart rates and premature ventricular contractions. These situation are strenuous physical activity, psychological stress and/or
anxiety, even normal, physiological,
hormonal changes that happen in our bodies during a day, can produce similar symptoms.
Some substances, like alcohol and anabolic
steroids can also have these effects. Tobacco, also, by irritating the airway and constantly changing the pressures within the ribcage. Therefore, if on any of these substances, I would recommend quitting their usage. Also, you should quit
smoking or, at least, not smoke excessive amounts of tobacco a day. If quitting tobacco results to be a stressful event to you, then you should at least smoke a few cigarettes a day, not more.
Just to be sure and thorough, an EKG would be in order. The conduction and/or electrical disturbances of the heart are unusual in your age. Even if they would be present, an EKG would depict them and, if this is the case, it is only then when further investigation would be appropriate.
I hope this helps. Wish you a good health.
Best regards,
Dr. Meriton
