Suggest Treatment For Rapid Weight Gain And Fatigue Post Appendix Surgery

My appendix burst a year ago and ever since I ve had all sorts of issues. My main one is extreme and rapid weight gain. I ve had my thyroid and blood sugar tested and all are normal. I ve developed food allergies to gluten, dairy and nuts. I get severely exhausted no matter how much I sleep, I rarely have bowel movements, i get this weird head pressure sensation consistently, muscle weakness, or it feels like my nerves are going hay wire. I get abdominal pain and lots of bloating. I can t lose weight no matter how I eat or how much i exercise and sleep.

Hello and thank you for your question. Here are several suggestions. Start a simple diet of rice, cooked vegetables and simple freshly cooked meats or fish. Add probiotics twice a day. The appendix may be a reservoir for normal bacterial and sometimes after it is removed the normal microbes in your gut that help with digestion are destroyed. If the simple diet and probiotics do not help you may need to see a gastroenterologist for further evaluation.
