Suggest Treatment For Rash After Tick Bite And Joints Pain
My son got a tick bite three months ago. It has a rash around the area now. He is not feeling good. His joints ache. he has the rash. We are very worried. He just went to a walk in clynic in Nevada city and they wanted to put him on three months of antibiotics. They came to this decision just by looking at his tick bite. They did nothing else but look at it.
Actually what you are describing about your son fits with LYME disease.its condition which is caused by a bite from a tick. Actually the tick here acts as a vector who transmits the bacteria after its bite.
Classically there are three stages of this disease. Mostly the physician starts the antibiotic after having seen the rash (erythema migrans) which is specific and conclusive for lyme disease along with a history of travel and history of tick bite.there is no need of doing any other labs.
He should be on antibiotics for few weeks to stop the complications of this disease. So don't worry and continue your treatment and get a follow up with your physician again.
Hope I have answered your queries. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr. Basharat Sami
