Hello,
Thank you for writing at HCM.
There are several causes of penile and lap area pimples. One of the most common and not dangerous but very bothersome and easily treated is yeast infection. Do the lesions itch or are they tender? Do they ooze? yeast infection may cause itchy rash and can be easily treated with anitifungal cream applied twice a day for 10 days. If no better in the first 4-5 days you will need a doctor to see you.
Bacterial cause of pimples is a possibility and an antibacterial cream 3 times a day for 7-10 days might help. In this case you should see improvement within 3-4 days otherwise the treatment is not helping. Testing positive for
staphylococcus does not necessary mean you have infection caused by it because staphylococcus is a normal flora of the skin (normally we find it in the skin and does not cause problems) but sometimes it may overgrow and cause infection also.
If you have tested positive for
syphilis before it is important to check your status again (tests for syphilis)- there is a risk of re-contracting it and treatment for syphilis is very important in this case. If you have contracted and STD you are at risk for other ones. STD-s travel together so it is important to know your HIV status, have blood tests for
Hepatitis B and the urethral secretions for
gonorrhea and chlamydia as a routine general check.
Genital Herpes might cause genital vesicles (small
boils with water on the skin) and tend to recur but they are very painful and clustered together in groups surrounded by red area. It is and STD and needs treatment with
antiviral in the active phase if it is the cause.
Genital lice is a cause of pimples in the genital area so it is good to be ruled out. Genital lice is considered an STD due to the high risk of transmission with sexual intercourse. There is a specific treatment with shampoo against the lice in case it is the cause of the pimples.
A doctor visit would be needed to better evaluate you and differentiate the cause of the lesions.
Hope this is helpful and answering to your question.
