Suggest Treatment For Rashes And Muscular Pain In Right Abdomen
I have had shingles twice in the past 12 months. The rash and muscular pain were on my right abdomen, shoulder blade and lastly my right hip and leg. Now I have similar pain on my left lower back, left hip and left let to the knee - currently I have no rash...am I looking at another round of shingles?
Since you have had 2 episodes in the past 1 year, it suggests that either you were inadequately treated or your immunity is low - causes may be many including diabetes, kidney problems, leukemia, AIDS, etc. It is quite possible that your shingles infection has spread to the opposite side due to the same reason.
Many times pain in herpes infections appears before the rash. If other causes of pain like any stomach or colonic pathology or any external injury are excluded, then we have to suspect shingles. However, pain due to shingles is more superfical than muscular pain.
Treatment with antivirals like acyclovir both oral and topical will help control the pain and will also decrease the duration of the symptoms.
Hope this helps.
