Hi I have had a rash in the back of my leg behind my knee for 4 days now, I am in Bali, Indonesia. I thought it might be from massage oil, but not sure. I have been applying quartersone creamvfor the last 16 hours but the rash has popped up in a couple more spots in the same area. It s a little tender to touch but not itchey. I don t appear to have any other symptoms. Thanks.
Rashes behind the knees are commonly due to allergies, side effects of the medications or food taken recently or atopic dermatitis.
Sometimes, they do occur due to infections(parasitic, fungal, bacterial, viral, etc). You are suggested to take care of your hygiene, wash it clean & keep the area dry. Warm, moist sweaty area triggers fungal infections.
You can take non sedating antihistamines for relieve. You can apply locally ointment hydrocortisone, clotrimazole, or bactroban for relieve.
It should get reduced over time. Do not scratch or pop. If you are uncomfortable you can take anti inflammatory, one sos when required.
However, you are suggested to get it clinically examined by a dermatologist to detect any STI. You may have to get STD tests done to be on the safer side.
Hope I have answered your queries. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K
