Suggest Treatment For Rashes On Groin And Buttocks

I have a rash on my groin and buttocks that occurs before and during my period. It is itchy and scaley looking. I have been treated for yeast infection and it seemed to go away with the pills that I took, however, now that those pills are gone, the rash is back.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

* As per my clinical experience, the rashes in relation with menses involving the groin and buttocks sound to be related to possible fungal infection from low immunit status during menstrual blood loss.

* My guidelines at present

- local hygiene care with antiseptic liquid or soap
- avoid prolong use of same tampons
- check whethere is there any leucorrhea or vaginal infection
- discharge per vagina or cervix has to be treated very vigilantly
- avoid unprotected intercourse to avoid sexual transmissions
- drink more liquids and maintain hydration
- local application of Miconazole ( 2 % ) cream
- intake of pre biotics with lacto bacillus help to restore te normal vaginal flora early
- discuss the need of antibiotic as metronidazole or cephalosporin with your doc during your visit.

Hope I have answered your queries. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel
