Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Sure....II am a healthy adult 49 year old male, and I have been diagnosed with complicated UTI this AM and the Doc prescribed CIpro for 10 days, I had my 1st dose this morning and I have been shaking like a leaf, chills, 102.5 fever, etc. Is that normal? Thanks
High grade fever with chills are symptoms of UTI and not due to Cipro .
Get your routine urine test and urine culture done to find out the organisms causing this infection and antibiotics to which they are sensitive to.
Please take broad spectrum antibiotics like Cefotaxime along with urinary antiseptic like Nitrofurantoin twice daily and urine alkalizer thrice daily .Later on switch on to appropriate antibiotics as per culture report.
Get the prescription of medicines from your family Physician.
Ensure to drink more water .To keep your urine dilute This will help to control dysuria and keep you well hydrated .
