I Am 19 years of age and I ve been getting Bartholin Cysts for 5 years now but now they recurring more often, like once a month and it s very painful and I can t go through with the procedure because I still feel it and the doctors won t put me to sleep. Just put me on pain meds and antibiotics. What should I do ?
Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. I understand your concern. Recurrent Bartholin's cyst which is not controlled by conservative management and use of medications should be operated surgically. You need to undergo a procedure called 'marsupialization', in which an opening to the gland is formed so that the secretion channel remains open. The procedure can be done under local anaesthesia or under short acting general anaesthesia. Following procedure, the recovery would set in by a week to ten days. Kindly consult Gynaecologist for appropriate management. Hope the information provided would be helpful. All the best.
