Suggest Treatment For Recurrent Bronchitis And Sore Throat

Hello my name is Mary. I am 55 yrs old. Normally a healthy woman. (Example jogging 3 miles 4/5 times a week, good healthy eating, ect) Just last year after watching my grandson who coincidentally also is a year old (and often running nosed and coughing due to daycare) I came down with bronchitis which required antibiotics. Then in April again bronchitis which turned into double pneumonia and a hospital stay. I recovered fairly well and by mid May felt almost normal. During this time I saw a ENT for a persistent sore throat and he noticed severe post nasal drip and mentioned allergies. Started sitting one day a week and the first of June cold symptoms which progressed to a bad case of bronchitis. Well I haven t been right since. I took two bouts of steroids and antibiotics for fear of relapse my chest X-rays over the month of June showed no pneumonia but asthma set in. I have all sorts of tests being run which included CT scan-normal not sure on blood work for autoimmune and lung function scheduled so I m fairly confident on my doctor care. My question after all this is, does a person slowly get over all this and back to normal? I not only never had allergies but never had asthma in my life. Thank you for reviewing all this and I sure look forward to hearing back from you.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Since you are responding to the treatment, its obvious that your health will be fine very soon. Take nutritious diet & lead an active life as before.

Your X-Ray shows no more chest infections, then no worries. Take care of your general health. Relapses occur only if you are immuno compromised.

Asthma occurs due to pollution, anxiety, stress, allergy & tensions. Avoid all this. You can take a 3-6 months vacation to a hill station or any place that is comparatively less polluted than your present location. Your Asthma will go on it own.

Since you are 55, take vitamin B & E rich food or supplements. Take adequate sleep. Cut on addictions if any.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Nupur K, General & Family Physician
