Suggest Treatment For Recurrent Chalazions In The Eyes
Hi, I have been having recurrent chalazions in both my eyes for the past 4 months. I have had 3 incision and drainage surgeries but they keep coming back, and now there are a couple in each eye. Treatment with oral Doxycycline, Fusidic acid gel, hot compress and eyelid wipes have not been able to keep them away. No history of prior eye disease. Is there any particular reason for this and any remedy suggested? Thank you.

General & Family Physician, Dr. Dr. Ali's Response
recurrence of chalazion is most common in patients with acne, immune disorders and exposures to UV light. if the recurrence is in the same part of the eyelid then I will suggest you to consult an ophthalmologist to rule out any malignancy. (hopefully its not the case with you). you are taking adequate measures for prevention i.e. "four finger times 10 massage", entry dandruff shampoo and medical treatment. Recurrence requires monthly follow-ups by an ophthalmologist and laboratory tests.
